About The Daily Mobile
As a photographer I am constantly balancing my desire to document the world around me with a need to not be bogged down by awkward and expensive camera equipment when heading out for the day.
With the purchase of my Nokia 6265i phone in March of 2007 I finally had a camera that I not only could but would have to take with me everywhere.
Despite its technical limitations, I was genuinely surprised by the quality of images that my phone's 2 megapixel camera could capture, and the idea for The Daily Mobile was born.
I consider the camera phone the digital equivalent of Holga or Diana film cameras. Sometimes the technical imperfections enhance the impact of an image. The lengthy delay between pressing the shutter and the actual image capture take me back to the anticipation I used to feel waiting to get my film back from being processed - to see if I had succeeded in capturing the moment.
Even as technology is constantly changing how images can be created the characteristics that make a great photo remain the same: lighting, framing, subject matter, and timing. These are the photos I've taken on my phone that I think excel in at least one of those areas. I hope you enjoy them.
